Two Acres Care Home features 86 single rooms and 14 shared rooms, most of which have an en-suite WC. All rooms are spacious, comfortable, and furnished to a high standard. Residents can personalise their rooms with their own belongings.
The home also has beautifully maintained grounds, with a sensory garden, a pond, a gazebo, and a patio area. There are several communal spaces where residents can relax and socialise, such as lounges, dining rooms, a hair salon, and a cinema room.
In addition, we have an onsite training facility for staff, where they can update their skills and knowledge on a regular basis.
We provide all the medical supplies and specialised equipment for residents’ nursing care. Additional services can be accessed through the NHS (with the help of their GP) including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.
We also have visiting dental surgeons and opticians. Social workers and NHS Continuing Healthcare Assessors regularly visit to review residents’ well-being.
Visiting support services:
At Two Acres, you’re welcome to visit your loved one at any time. You’re free to sit in the lounge or in their rooms, depending on your preference.
We kindly ask you to avoid visiting during mealtimes, as we want to ensure that our residents have an uninterrupted dining experience. However, if you wish to stay and help your relative with their meal, you are more than welcome to do so.
Mealtimes:
We want everyone to feel at home at Two Acres, and residents are very welcome to bring small items and pictures for their bedroom. TVs and radios are allowed in rooms too.
If they have furniture or larger items they’d like to bring, we’d ask that you discuss this with the manager first.
We also recommend that clothing is labelled with the resident’s name to help prevent items from being misplaced.
Residents can keep seeing their own GP if Two Acres Care Home is within their practice area. Alternatively, they can register with one of the two surgeries near Two Acres: Drayton and Taverham Surgery.
Our Registered Nurses and Unit Managers will arrange GP visits whenever they’re required. And if there’s an emergency, we’ll call an Ambulance to take the resident to the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital right away.
We want to make sure that you both feel comfortable and supported in our home, and that we can provide the best care for your loved one.
Before moving in to Two Acres, we like to visit potential residents and talk to them about their needs and preferences. This will help us understand their daily routines and how we can make their stay more enjoyable. It also allows us to complete a risk assessment to help ensure their safety.
We invite you and your loved one to visit our home and see where they would be living. We believe that it is important for them to have a choice and a say in their care.
Sometimes, we may have to admit someone in an emergency, without having a chance to visit them or let them visit us. We try to avoid this as much as possible, but if it happens, we will gather as much information as we can from other sources, such as their social worker, GP, or district nurse. We will also assess their needs within the first 24 hours of their admission and make sure that we can meet them. If we find out that we cannot provide the care that they need, we will let the admitting body know and help you find a more suitable place.
At Two Acres, we care about each person as an individual and we tailor our care plans to suit their personal needs and wishes. We want to know about their likes and dislikes, their daily routine, their preferred name, and anything else that matters to them.
We also want to help them enjoy their hobbies and interests, as well as keep each person safe and healthy. We’ll assess the risks that may affect them and help them make informed choices about their life.
We welcome your input or that of your loved one in creating and reviewing their care plan, so that you can be happy with the care that we provide. We use an online Care Docs System to record and follow their care plan in detail.
